Baby PeterThe identities of a couple imprisoned for the torture and death of "Baby P" have been named tonight. The mother and stepfather of Baby Peter Connelly, who died after sustaining 50 horrific wounds and caused revulsion in Britain, can now be named as Tracey Connelly and Steven Barker, of Penshurst Road, Haringey, London, after a two-year reporting ban on the two jailed offenders was lifted at midnight. The child's surname was also revealed. Radio ORLA fm has also observed the lifting of the ban at 23:00 GMT. A third person convicted with the couple earlier this year was Jason Owen, previously named as their lodger and a known paedophile. It is now known the lodger was Barker's brother. Owen was sentenced to three years in prison. The mother, imprisoned for five years, could be freed in three years, while the stepfather was handed a minimum of 12 years in prison. Baby P was found in his bloodied cot with injuries including a broken back and eight fractured ribs. Baby P was punched with such force that he swallowed a tooth. The 17-month old child became a symbol of crime against children for the brave way he faced up to his short and tragic life and wore a smile despite the injuries he concealed.
