Polish Jazz Looms Large in London Fest |

The London Jazz Festival opens on November 13 and Polish acts feature heavily in the 8-day line-up across various venues in the capital. Among Polish artists making an appearance will be Pawel Kaczmarczyk and vocalist Grzegorz Karnas at the Clore Ballroom in Southbank Centre in the "Polish Showcase" on Nov 14 at 1400, admission free. Radio ORLA's pal the editor of Poland’s Jazz Forum Magazine, Pawel Brodowski, talks about the past, present and future of jazz in Poland at the Front Room, Southbank Centre at 1800. Same day, trumpet legend Tomasz Stanko and Metier will perform at Queen Elizabeth Hall - Tickets sold out! At our Jazz Cafe POSK, Magdalena Reising & the Blue Cafe Jazz Ensemble perform same night at 2030, admission £5. The Poles are back on Nov 16 with Dunajskie Kapelye, the fiery gypsy jazz band, led by Polish violin virtuoso Piotr Jordan, at The Vortex in Gillett Square at 2000, admission £10. On Nov 17, Janek Gwizdala Group featuring Jojo Mayer is at Zigfrid Von Underbelly, 11 Hoxton Square. Admission £17. On Saturday Nov 21, Polish guitarist Jarek Smietana performs his fusion-edged jazz with special guests at Jazz Cafe POSK at 2030. Admission £10.
