We are pleased to announce a new and exciting information and entertainment Polishcommunity radio station in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, Radio Orla.
The station is the result of months of feedback from the community and meticulouspreparations by a group of experienced radio people with Polish connections. Radio Orla has identified a considerable need and opportunity for an Anglo-Polishradio station engaged with its community that can relate Polish issues toBritish and Irish authorities, as well as to Poles back in Poland thinking ofcoming to the UK and Ireland.
Radio Orla will be working with major media groups, including radio stations in Poland, tobring Poles and others a taste of Polish life everyday online at http://www.radio-orla.com
George Matlock, editor-in-chief and managing director, himself a veteran of Polishcommunity radio, says: "We see ourselves in a unifying role for the community, and welcome cooperation with Polish media in the UK and Ireland,which will help boost their image in the community and give listeners quality news and entertainment. As this will be an Anglo-Polish language station, wewill give people of other communities a taste of Polish culture too, promote Poland, celebrate its heritage, encourage people to learn about Poland anderadicate prejudices wherever they may occur."
Radio Orla was chosen as the station's name because it was easy for Britons, Irish andPoles to say and remember. The station is in the final stages of negotiating astudio and a future announcement on the date of the station's launch willfollow soon. Radio Orla also invites interested parties, businesses andindividual benefactors to donate to this community-based station and to ensureit can serve the community.
