Poles targetted by racist abuse on London tram

Poles were the target of a hail of racist abuse on a packed South London tram this week. Online video footage showing a young woman trading racist abuse against fellow travellers has sparked worldwide anger. The woman, using vulgarism in front of children, is shown telling passengers to "sort out your countries". Police are examining the footage of the Croydon to Wimbledon journey in which the woman says "What has this country come to? A load of black people and a load of f***ing Polish."

A 34-year old woman from the Croydon was later questioned by police on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.
